Welcome to The Optimistic Advocate

Hello, and welcome to the Optimistic Advocate. The weekly show that brings you advocacy, tips, insights, and straight talk reaction to breaking news related to improving mental health – yours, mine, everyones! I'm your host, Scott, Bryant-Comstock, and I'm CEO and founder of the Children's Mental Health Network.

This show typically runs between 30 to 40 minutes and releases every Wednesday morning at 9 am eastern time. Every week we showcase positive examples of successful advocacy efforts for people who want to improve the lives of children and families. The show is packed full of fantastic guests, but every now and then, I will do a solo show, so you get the best of both worlds, great guests, and great insights from my over 40 years experience in the world of improving mental health services and supports for families.

I can't wait for you to join me here on the Optimistic Advocate. Remember to tell all your podcasting friends that the show is available for free in any app that supports podcasts.

a bit about me

My passion is helping to shape policy and practice in children’s mental health. For the past 40 years, my journey as a mental health advocate has traveled from volunteering at a suicide and crisis center, professional roles as a therapist in an outpatient clinic, in-home family therapist, state mental health official, Board Chair for a county mental health program, and national reviewer of children’s mental health systems reform efforts. As the founder of the Children’s Mental Health Network (2009), I lead the Network’s efforts to grow a national online forum for the exchange of ideas on how to continually improve children’s mental health research, policy and practice.

"Authentic and REAL"

Finally Scott has come out with a podcast! Such an authentic voice and I appreciate so much the “realness” he provides in all of his stuff, and now a podcast!! Really inspirational and informative. He has so much knowledge and insight into things that just aren’t shared publicly. By far the most informative podcast out there, sharing actual things happening that people should know about.

P.S. For those of you who aren’t subscribed to receive his weekly updates “Friday Update”, get on it because that has been one of the best ways for me to stay connected to national things happening in the world of mental health.
